How Much Wood Would A Brick Stove Burn...

If you haven't seen my basic Masonry Heaters video, I hope you'll check that out before digging into this.  click HERE.

The quick answer:

About half as much as you would in a good, modern metal stove.

A better, longer answer:

When people ask this question, they are usually coming from one of two places.  The first is sustainability.  The second is that of personal labor requirements: "How hard is this going to be?"

For those concerned with sustainability I say that it's not just burning less, it's also burning cleaner.  We are a carbon neutral technology, with our Austrian heaters testing out as carbon-reducing.

To those concerned with the work involved with burning wood I say confidently:  If you're coming from a background of metal woodstoves you'll feel like burning a Masonry Heater is very easy.
First you're burning less wood, so it's less overall work.  Second you're buring in batches, so it's a morning and an evening fire.  You load it, light it, sweep up, and move on.  The wood debris is inevitable, but it's much more managable than mess made by the continuous feeding required to support a metal stove.
